McKee Fehl attended a mauri stone laying ceremony on 7th November 2018 to mark the official start of construction at The Wellington Children’s Hospital in Newtown.

Scheduled to open in 2021, the new children’s hospital will be spread across three floors with 50 beds and 21 clinical rooms. Situated at the northern end of the Wellington campus, the Children’s Hospital will connect to the main hospital via a link bridge.

Commenting on the project, Stephen Cummings, General Manager, McKee Fehl said: “We are delighted to play a pivotal role in this landmark development. The new, purpose-built hospital is a highly technical project that will house state-of-the-art facilities, uniquely designed to treat children, in one centralised space.”

“We are working closely with Capital & Coast District Health Board, industry consultants and health care specalists to build a modern hospital that meets the utmost needs of children and their families in their toughest hours,” Stephen added.

This project was made possible by a generous $50m donation from local businessman Mark Dunajtschik as well as a $45.6m commitment from The Government.
