2003: Parliament Executive Wing Refurbishment, $40m

Refurbishment of the Executive Wing of Parliament (The Beehive) Stages 2 and 3

Project Director: Maurice Clark

Site Manager: Philip Gray

Chief QS: David Sykes

McKee Fehl successfully completed two projects as part of the Beehive Refurbishment, the first being the Beehive Executive Wing Refurbishment completed in 2003 and the second being the Beehive Refurbishment Stage II completed in 2006. Work included the complete stripping out and refurbishment of all public areas and the offices from Level 4 to Level 10 of the Beehive. The work involved an intricate mixture of high quality finishes with complicated detailing along with completely new building structure and services.  All work took place while the building remained occupied with McKee Fehl helping co-ordinate the relocation of the various user groups within Parliament.

Work was completed in September 2006, and received the Registered Master Builders Commercial award as national winner in recognition of outstanding excellence in workmanship, creativity and innovation. These two separate contracts combined totalled in excess of $42m and over 4 1/2 years of work for Parliamentary Services and were completed to a remarkably high standard.
